About

My PhD thesis was on the philosophy of Richard Rorty, and led to two books on his work (2003, 2007).  I'm now mostly interested in the application of ethical, political and social theory to issues of various shapes and sizes, including multiculturalism, the environment, the family and disability.  A co-edited volume on the theory and practice of differential treatment in contemporary Europe is just out, with Routledge.  I'm currently working on a critical survey of contemporary theories of democracy - and meanwhile approaching the end of my term as co-editor of Res Publica: A Journal of Moral, Legal and Social Philosophy.
